Dann, Hamish, and the team came out to perform a complicated three phase and board upgrade, including sub boards in my sheds. I found the whole team to be polite, and hard working. It was a very challenging job, but Dann's team did not compromise on quality or safety. I'm impressed with thier professional approach to the job, and they left the site tidy and clean. I will absolutely be calling them again next time I need works done.

Highly recommend Ben from Danns Electrical, we couldn't be happier with his service. Ben quickly came up with solutions for our issues and did a fantastic job installing sensor lights and power points. He provided excellent, reliable and professional service, we wouldn't use anyone else. 5 Stars

Exceptional electrician, experience really makes all the difference! We honestly cannot recommend Dan highly enough! We'd been dealing with an incredibly frustrating, intermittent electrical issue in our kitchen for ages. The power would trip seemingly out of nowhere, sometimes only once every six months, making it almost impossible to pinpoint the cause. We'd spent so much time troubleshooting, unplugging appliances and trying to work out what on earth was going on. Just when we thought we'd figured it out, the problem would eventually happen again! We finally called Dan, and honestly, we were absolutely mind blown. Within less than five minutes of arriving, he had figured out the issue! After all the time we'd spent scratching our heads over it, watching him identify the problem so quickly was incredible. It really showed us the difference that genuine experience, technical knowledge and expertise make. What had been an ongoing headache for us was something Dan was able to work through almost immediately. We're so glad we called him. It's such a relief to have someone who genuinely knows their trade and can get to the bottom of a problem without hours of guesswork. If you're looking for an electrician who knows what they're doing, is experienced and can troubleshoot those frustrating electrical issues that others might struggle to pinpoint, give Dan a call. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend him and will absolutely be using him again. Thanks, Dan, you've earned every one of these five stars!

If I could give more than 5 stars, I would. I hired Dann's Electrical to perform a switchboard upgrade at my home in Oct 2026. Communication from the outset was phenomenal and they instilled more confidence than the 3 other competitive others I'd invited to tender for the works. Pricing was more competitive to boot. When Dan's tradesman Hamish and apprentice Cody rocked up with the new board, due to unforeseen circumstances, it quickly became apparent that there was much more to the job than had initially been expected. This is after the Level 2 electrician had disconnected us from street power and left. There was no turning back now. Without going into too much detail, Hamish and Cody's day had gone from a reasonably paced knock-off-on-time job to an "oh f*************k" kinda day. Not once did the boys grumble or moan or swear (as I certainly would have.) Nor did they let a moment go to waste. They were in it now and they didn't stop until the job was done. Upon finishing the job, I couldn't fault a single thing from their professionalism, the presentation and cable management of the new board to their clean-up effort at the end of the job when all they would have wanted was to go home a take a long shower in silence to wash the helluva day off 'em. BONUS POINTS! As with any older home, some of the building materials the fellas encountered were aged out and brittle: a roof tile broke as they were putting it back in. What did they do? Silicon up the remains and not let me find out until the next big rain because "where are we going to find a replacement for a 40+ year old tile?" Nope! The industrious young blokes jumped on fb marketplace, miraculously tracked down a local seller who had something that matched and drove out to his place to pick up a replacement (with a spare for me to keep.) I said at the top of this spiel that if i could give 5 stars, I would. I hope you now understand why. Dan, if you're reading this: don't let Hamish and Cody out of your sight. Any employer would be lucky to have 2 young guns of this calibre in their stable. Hats off, boys!

Dan came out to my place early on a Saturday morning to fix problems with the wiring in my switchboard, so we could get our power back after a storm. He got us going and provided advice on what we might want to look at upgrading. Dan was very nice and, arrived when he said he would, and did a great job.

Ceiling fan facts

What a ceiling fan does for comfort and your bill

Running costs, comfort and safety facts from the Australian and NSW Governments.

Hot night? A fan makes it feel 3°C cooler

3°C
cooler, as long as the fan is blowing on you

The Australian Government says fans improve comfort so you feel about 3°C cooler. They have to be blowing on you to work, as they can't cool the room itself.

Worried about running costs? About 2c an hour

2c
an hour to run a fan

The Australian Government says fans are a low-to-medium cost to buy and very cheap to run, at only around 2 cents per hour.

Handyman offering to fit the fan? Not if it's wired in

Electrician only
for installing or replacing a ceiling fan

The NSW Government says that unless you're a qualified electrician, you should never install or replace a ceiling fan. A hardwired fan needs a licensed electrician.

Fan and air con together? It pays off

Offset
fan costs are covered by air con savings

Your Home says the savings from running the air conditioner less more than offset the cost of running a fan.

Choosing a fan? Look at DC motors

30 watts
about half a traditional fan

Your Home says DC-motor fans use about 30 watts, or half the energy of a traditional fan.

Fans aren't just for summer

Winter mode
pushes warm air back down

Your Home says that on the winter setting, a ceiling fan draws cool air upward and gently forces warm air down towards the people in the room.

FAQs

Ceiling fan questions

Ask us anything
How much does ceiling fan installation cost?

It depends on the fan, the ceiling and whether there's already wiring in place. Quotes are free and every job is fixed price, so you know the cost before we start.

Can a handyman install a ceiling fan?

Not if it's hardwired. The NSW Government says that unless you're a qualified electrician, you should never install or replace a ceiling fan. A licensed electrician needs to do the wiring.

Can you replace my old ceiling fan?

Yes. We take down the old fan, check the wiring and mounting, and install the new one, using the existing wiring where it's safe to.

Do you repair ceiling fans?

Yes. We fix fans that wobble, hum, run slowly or have stopped working. If a repair isn't worth it, we'll tell you and quote a replacement.

Can you install a fan in a room that doesn't have one?

Yes. We can run new wiring and install a fan in a room that's never had one, with a wall control or remote.

Are DC ceiling fans better?

DC motor fans are quieter and more efficient. Your Home says they use about 30 watts, or half the energy of a traditional fan.

Should I use a ceiling fan in winter?

Yes. On the winter setting, a ceiling fan draws cool air upward and gently pushes warm air back down towards you.

Are your electricians licensed and insured?

Yes. Dann's Electrical holds NSW electrical contractor licence 399632C and carries $20 million public liability insurance. We're CM3 certified and NECA members.
