Fire season generally runs September to February (NSW RFS). If embers or storms damage the meter box or wiring at your Sun Valley home, leave the power off and get it checked.
NSW Government figures say up to 1,800 house fires each year could have been prevented by getting the wiring checked and having safety switches installed. We test switchboards, safety switches and wiring for homes in Sun Valley, 24/7 if it can’t wait.
January days in the lower Mountains average close to 29°C. If breakers trip when the air con kicks in, or your board still has old ceramic fuses, have it checked before the heat arrives.
Sun Valley homes average 2.7 cars each, and 100% are separate houses, which usually have their own switchboard and supply. Check your board can take a charger first.
Winter nights in the lower Mountains average 6.6°C. A 2,400 W plug-in heater draws about 10 amps, the full rating of a standard power point. If power points get warm or breakers trip when the heaters go on, get your Sun Valley home’s wiring checked.
If your block has its own power pole, Endeavour Energy says it’s yours to maintain. Inspect it before bushfire season. Repairs that disconnect at the point of supply need a Level 2 ASP.

Endeavour Energy says privately owned poles and lines are the property owner’s responsibility, and recommends an inspection before bushfire season and after major storms. Endeavour Energy says to keep a 3-metre safety clearance from powerlines, and owners look after trees near lines on their land. If a repair means disconnecting at the point of supply, it needs a Level 2 Accredited Service Provider, and we are one.
A Level 2 electrician is an Accredited Service Provider authorised to work on the network side of your property. That includes connecting and disconnecting power, repairing and upgrading service lines, and metering. Regular electricians can’t do this work. Dann’s holds Endeavour Energy authorisation for service line work and Plus ES authorisation for contestable metering.
Plug-in heaters are one of the biggest loads in a home. A 2,400 W heater draws about 10 amps, the full rating of a standard power point, so two on one circuit can be enough to trip it. If it keeps happening, or a power point feels warm, stop using it and get the circuit checked. We find the cause and fix it, 24/7 if it can’t wait.
