Dann, Hamish, and the team came out to perform a complicated three phase and board upgrade, including sub boards in my sheds. I found the whole team to be polite, and hard working. It was a very challenging job, but Dann's team did not compromise on quality or safety. I'm impressed with thier professional approach to the job, and they left the site tidy and clean. I will absolutely be calling them again next time I need works done.

Highly recommend Ben from Danns Electrical, we couldn't be happier with his service. Ben quickly came up with solutions for our issues and did a fantastic job installing sensor lights and power points. He provided excellent, reliable and professional service, we wouldn't use anyone else. 5 Stars

Exceptional electrician, experience really makes all the difference! We honestly cannot recommend Dan highly enough! We'd been dealing with an incredibly frustrating, intermittent electrical issue in our kitchen for ages. The power would trip seemingly out of nowhere, sometimes only once every six months, making it almost impossible to pinpoint the cause. We'd spent so much time troubleshooting, unplugging appliances and trying to work out what on earth was going on. Just when we thought we'd figured it out, the problem would eventually happen again! We finally called Dan, and honestly, we were absolutely mind blown. Within less than five minutes of arriving, he had figured out the issue! After all the time we'd spent scratching our heads over it, watching him identify the problem so quickly was incredible. It really showed us the difference that genuine experience, technical knowledge and expertise make. What had been an ongoing headache for us was something Dan was able to work through almost immediately. We're so glad we called him. It's such a relief to have someone who genuinely knows their trade and can get to the bottom of a problem without hours of guesswork. If you're looking for an electrician who knows what they're doing, is experienced and can troubleshoot those frustrating electrical issues that others might struggle to pinpoint, give Dan a call. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend him and will absolutely be using him again. Thanks, Dan, you've earned every one of these five stars!

If I could give more than 5 stars, I would. I hired Dann's Electrical to perform a switchboard upgrade at my home in Oct 2026. Communication from the outset was phenomenal and they instilled more confidence than the 3 other competitive others I'd invited to tender for the works. Pricing was more competitive to boot. When Dan's tradesman Hamish and apprentice Cody rocked up with the new board, due to unforeseen circumstances, it quickly became apparent that there was much more to the job than had initially been expected. This is after the Level 2 electrician had disconnected us from street power and left. There was no turning back now. Without going into too much detail, Hamish and Cody's day had gone from a reasonably paced knock-off-on-time job to an "oh f*************k" kinda day. Not once did the boys grumble or moan or swear (as I certainly would have.) Nor did they let a moment go to waste. They were in it now and they didn't stop until the job was done. Upon finishing the job, I couldn't fault a single thing from their professionalism, the presentation and cable management of the new board to their clean-up effort at the end of the job when all they would have wanted was to go home a take a long shower in silence to wash the helluva day off 'em. BONUS POINTS! As with any older home, some of the building materials the fellas encountered were aged out and brittle: a roof tile broke as they were putting it back in. What did they do? Silicon up the remains and not let me find out until the next big rain because "where are we going to find a replacement for a 40+ year old tile?" Nope! The industrious young blokes jumped on fb marketplace, miraculously tracked down a local seller who had something that matched and drove out to his place to pick up a replacement (with a spare for me to keep.) I said at the top of this spiel that if i could give 5 stars, I would. I hope you now understand why. Dan, if you're reading this: don't let Hamish and Cody out of your sight. Any employer would be lucky to have 2 young guns of this calibre in their stable. Hats off, boys!

Dan came out to my place early on a Saturday morning to fix problems with the wiring in my switchboard, so we could get our power back after a storm. He got us going and provided advice on what we might want to look at upgrading. Dan was very nice and, arrived when he said he would, and did a great job.

Richmond local knowledge

Local facts for Richmond property owners

Facts from government and utility sources, and what they mean for your power. Each card links to its source.

Been flooded? Don’t switch the power back on yet

Greatest risk
Richmond is on the NSW SES list of highest-risk flood suburbs

NSW SES says that in a flood the size of 1867, essential services including electricity would be cut across the floodplain. If water gets into your home, don’t use any power points, appliances or hot water system that have been in floodwater until a licensed electrician has checked them.

Breakers keep tripping? Have the wiring tested

Up to 1,800
NSW house fires a year that wiring checks and safety switches could prevent

The NSW Government says getting wiring checked and safety switches installed could have prevented up to 1,800 house fires a year. Flickering lights and tripping breakers are worth a look. We test Richmond switchboards and wiring, 24/7 if it’s urgent.

Hot summers? Your board does the heavy lifting

47.8°C
Richmond RAAF, 1939. A Sydney basin record for 81 years

Penrith Lakes hit 48.9°C in 2020, taking the Sydney basin heat record Richmond had held since 1939. Air con runs flat out on days like that, so have your board checked before the next heatwave.

Adding an EV charger? Check your supply can handle it

1.5
vehicles per Richmond dwelling (2021 Census)

Richmond homes average 1.5 cars each, and only 55.1% are separate houses. In a unit or townhouse the supply is often shared, so check your board and any strata approval before adding a charger.

Landlord? Hard-wired alarms are an electrician’s job

44.1%
of Richmond homes are rented (2021 Census)

Under NSW rules, a landlord checks smoke alarms every year, replaces them within 10 years of manufacture, and uses a licensed electrician to repair or replace hard-wired ones.

Had electrical work done? Make sure you got a CCEW

7 days
deadline for your electrician to lodge it

NSW electricians must submit a Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work no later than seven days after finishing the work, including the safety test. Ask for your copy after any work on your Richmond property.

Richmond FAQs

Richmond electrician questions

Ask us anything
Can I get an emergency electrician in Richmond at night?

Yes. We’re on call 24/7 for Richmond and the Hawkesbury, including weekends and public holidays. Ring 0478 014 622 for a power outage, sparking outlet, burning smell or a switchboard that keeps tripping. If anyone is hurt, call 000.

Who do I call if the power is out in Richmond?

Call us any time on 0478 014 622. First check whether your neighbours have power. If they do, or only part of your Richmond property is out, the fault is on your side and we can find and fix it, 24/7. If the whole street is out, it’s a network outage.

Is Dann’s Electrical licensed?

Yes, licensed and fully insured in NSW (licence 399632C). We hold CM3 certification, NECA membership and Level 2 ASP accreditation, and the team has current Working With Children Checks.

My Richmond home has been flooded. What about the electrics?

Keep the power off. NSW SES advises turning off electricity before going back inside, leaving lights and appliances off, and having a licensed electrician check your wiring and appliances first. We do those inspections for homes and businesses and tell you what’s safe to use.

Do you work on units and townhouses in Richmond?

Yes. 44.3% of Richmond homes are townhouses, semis, units or apartments (2021 Census). We work with owners, landlords and strata managers on individual units, common-area lighting and shared switchboards.

What’s a Level 2 electrician, and do I need one?

You need one for work on the network side of your property: connecting and disconnecting power, repairing and upgrading service lines, and metering. Regular electricians can’t do this work. A Level 2 electrician is an Accredited Service Provider, and Dann’s holds Endeavour Energy authorisation for service line work and Plus ES authorisation for contestable metering.

What are the smoke alarm rules for rentals in Richmond?

44.1% of Richmond homes are rented (2021 Census). NSW landlords must check smoke alarms every year, replace removable batteries each year, replace alarms within 10 years of manufacture, and use a licensed electrician for hard-wired alarms.

Can you install an EV charger in Richmond?

Yes. Richmond households average 1.5 cars (2021 Census). We install home chargers including Tesla and Evnex, and check your switchboard and supply can handle the extra load first.

Do you service the suburbs around Richmond?

Yes. Around Richmond we regularly work in Windsor, Agnes Banks, Bligh Park, Freemans Reach and Wilberforce, along with the rest of the Hawkesbury.

Do you work on homes and businesses?

Both. We work for homeowners, landlords, businesses, schools, strata and asset managers. At home that covers repairs, switchboards and EV chargers; on commercial and industrial sites it’s fit-outs, test and tag and maintenance.

Do you provide a CCEW?

Yes. Every NSW electrician must submit a Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work (CCEW) through Building Commission NSW’s eCert portal no later than seven days after completing the work, including the safety and compliance test. We lodge one for every job that needs it and send you a copy.

How long is your warranty?

25 years on switchboards we install and 7 years on lighting, covering parts and labour.
